Tubal Blockage
Fallopian tubes are female reproductive organs that connect the ovaries and the uterus. Sometimes tubes gets clogged due to various reasons, condition is termed as Tubal Blockage.
Every month during ovulation ,which occurs usually in the middle of a menstrual cycle ,the Fallopian tubes carry an egg from the ovary to the uterus. If an egg is fertilized by sperm ,it moves through the tube to the uterus for implantation.
What is fallopian tubes blockage?
It is a terrible illness which happens to females who lose the ability to conceive completely.In addition the fallopian tubes connect the main sites where the egg gets fertilized, but also if tubes gets blocked ,a lady cannot possibly become pregnant.
Causes –
Fallopian tubes are usually blocked by scar tissue or pelvic adhesions. These can be caused by many factors :-
1) Pelvic Inflammatory Disease –
It can cause scarring or hydrosalpinx.
2) Endometriosis –
Endometrial tissue can build up in the fallopian tubes and cause a blockage. Endometrial tissue on the outside of other side can unquestionably cause adhesions that can block the tubes.
3) Certain sexually transmitted diseases (STIs) –
Chlamydia and Gonnorhoea can cause scarring and leave pelvic inflammatory disease.
4) Post ectopic pregnancy –
Undoubtedly post ectopic pregnancy can scar the fallopian tubes .
5) Fibroids –
Fibroid growths can block the tubes especially where they attach to the uterus.
6) Post abdominal surgery –
Along with Post surgery especially on the tubes themselves can lead to pelvic adhesions that can block the tubes.
Symptoms –
Blocked fallopian tubes don’t often causes symptoms. Many women don’t know they have blocked tubes untill they try to get pregnant and have trouble.
In some cases , blocked fallopian tubes can lead to mild regular pain on one side of the abdomen. This usually happens in a type of blockage called hydrosalpinx . It happens when fluid fills and on the other hand enlarges a fallopian tube.
Effect on fertility –
Blocked tubes are a common cause of infertility as sperm and an egg meet in the fallopian tubes for fertilization and if the tubes are blocked then no fertilization can takes place.
If both the tubes are fully blocked , pregnancy without treatment will be impossible. But If the tubes are partially blocked ,you can get pregnant but the chances of ectopic pregnancy increases.
It should be noted If only one tube is blocked ,the blockage most likely won’t affect fertility, without a doubteggs can still travel through unaffected fallopian tube. Here fertility days can help increase your chance of ovulating on the open side.
Diagnosis –
Hysterosalpingography (HSG) is a type of X-ray used to examine the inside of tubes.
Outlook for this condition –
Blocked fallopian tubes can cause Infertility ,contrary to it’s still possible to have a child. In many cases ,laproscopic surgery can remove the blockage and improve fertility. If surgery isn’t possible, even so IVF can help you conceive if you’re otherwise healthy.
Fallopian tubes blockage treatment without surgery –
Ayurveda has a key factor to treat block tubes without surgery is Uttarbasti.
Mode of action of Uttarbasti on tubal Blockage –
1) It removes the blockage of the tubal lumen by directly acting on the obstruction mechanically and restores the normal endometrium ,it’s scraping and regenerating leads to normalisation of tubal function.
2) It restores the normal function of cilia by stimulating them.
3) It may break the tuboperitoneal adhesions.
Procedure –
1. 5 ml of Uttarbasti for six days in one cycle (after cessation of menstruation ) was given with an interval of 3 days in between for two consecutive cycles, with the consent of the patient.
2.The patient was admitted for Uttarbasti , a day after cessation of menstruation. Snehna ( Oleation) of Bala taila on the lower abdomen, back and lower limbs followed by Nadi svedana with water steam on lower abdomen and back was given to patients before each other Uttarbasti.
3.Yoniprakshalana with Panchvalkala Kwath was performed to sterilized the peri vaginal part.
4.The oil and instruments were autoclaved.
5.The patient was placed on the operation table in a dorsal lithotomy position.
6.The private part was cleaned with help of Sim’s speculum and an anterior vaginal wall retractor.
7.The anterior lip of the cervix was held with the help of the Allis forceps.
8.Uterine sounding was done and then Uttarbasti cannula already attached with 5 ml syringe filled and Kumari Taila was passed into the uterine cavity after making a head low position.
9.The drug was pushed above the level of internal os with constant force ,but quickly to make the drug reached up to the tubes.
10.The patient was sent to bed and bed was kept with head low for 2 hours.
11.The lower abdomen was fomented with hot water bag .
12. Patient were asked to avoid very spicy food .
13.Coitus was prohibited.
This procedure has remarkable results in opening the blocked tubes and gives you the satisfaction of being blessed with motherhood.
