Apamarga
Apamarga plant is one to three feet high and grows like other plants along with grass everywhere in India. It grows easily in the rain, which is found in red and white color, which is called Onga, Latjira, Chirchita. Its scientific name is Achyranthes Asprera which belongs to Amaranthaceae family. Its leaves are very small and covered with white hairs. They are elliptical and some are pointed. Its flowers are small, some red green or purple in color. The sticks and manjaris of red apamarga are of some red color Its seeds are like rice. These are called Apamarga Tandul.
There are mainly two species of apamarga, which are used in medicine.
• white apamarga
• red apamarga
Chemical Constituents –
In the ash of Apamarga, lime 13 percent, 4 percent iron, 30 percent alkali, 7 percent, corrosive 2 percent, salt 2 percent sulfur and 3 percent suitable bases of marrow fibers. These elements are found more in the ash of its root than in the ash of its leaves.
Parts Used –
Apamarg root, seed, leaves and the whole plant (Panchaga) are used are used for medicinal purposes.
Dosage –
• Juice – 10-20 ml
• Root powder – 3-6 grams
• Seeds – 3 grams
• Alkali (Kshara) – 1/2-2 grams
Benefits –
• Toothache
Make a dough by dipping cotton wool in the juice of 2-3 leaves of apamarga. By applying it in the teeth, toothache is cured.
Daily brushing with the fresh root of Apamarga not only cures toothache, but also cures the problem of movement of teeth, weakness of gums, and bad breath from the mouth. This cleans the teeth well.
• Skin Diseases
Grinding its leaves and applying it cures skin diseases and lumps like boils, pimples etc.
• Excessive Eating
The disease of excessive appetite is called Bhasmak Roga. For its treatment, take 3 grams powder of Apamarga seeds twice a day for about a week. It cures the problem of excessive hunger.
• Cough
Make a powder of 6gm apamarg root. Add 7 black pepper powders to it. Taking it with fresh water in the morning and evening is beneficial in cough.
Add honey to about 125 mg apamarga alkali. Licking it in the morning and evening removes the phlegm accumulated in the respiratory tract and chest of children. Children’s cough is fine.
• Mouth Ulcers
The properties of Apamarga (Latjira) are beneficial in case of mouth ulcers. For this, make a decoction of Apamarg leaves and gargle. This cures the problem of mouth ulcers.
• Piles
Grind 6 leaves of apamarga and 5 pieces of black pepper with water. Filter it and take it in the morning and evening, it provides relief in piles. This stops the bleeding.
• Vaginal Pain
Grind the root, leaves and stem of apamarga. Women apply it in the form of a paste in the vagina after delivery. It cures vaginal pain.
• Infertility
Women who are unable to conceive due to irregular menstruation or excessive bleeding. They can benefit from the medicinal properties of apamarga (chirchira). After the end of menstruation, take 10 leaves of this divine herb, or 10 grams of its root. Grind it in 125 ml of cow’s milk and filter it. Consume it. Keep in mind that it should have originated in good land. By giving it in the morning, afternoon and evening for 4 days, the woman gets pregnant. If this experiment is not successful in one go, then do it more than 3 times.
• Easy Delivery
Tie the root of apamarga in a thread and tie it on the waist before the labor pain starts. This makes delivery easier. Take care to remove the root as soon as the delivery takes place.
• Migraine
Just sniffing the powder of the seeds of Apamarga provides relief from migraine. By smelling it, the phlegm accumulated inside the brain gets diluted and comes out through the nose.
