Marigold (Genda Phool)
Marigold (Genda Phool), a common flower that is bright orange in color as it holds a prominent position during festivals and other occasions. It is used as a “thorana” which means garland. Though it is not an aromatic flower, it is preferred for a garland due to the reason that it can repel insects.
In Ayurveda, Marigold is considered cooling in nature and thus balancing for Pitta as well as Kapha Doshas. Botanical name of marigold is Tagetes erecta and it belongs to the Asteraceae (Asteraceae) family. It is commonly known as “Genda” in Hindi and Jhandu in Sanskrit.

Marigold is beneficial when the skin of hands or feet or heels gets cracked. Mix the juice of marigold leaves with Vaseline and rub it on hands and feet. This removes itching and dryness of hands and feet.
