Eucalyptus
Eucalyptus is a tree that typically grows to a height of 45 m (148 ft) but may sometimes only be a stunted shrub, or alternatively under ideal conditions can grow as tall as 90–100 m (300–330 ft). It is commonly known as southern blue gum or blue gum, is a species of tall, evergreen tree endemic to southeastern Australia. It is also called fever tree in English and Safeda & Nilgiri in Hindi. It’s botanical name is Eucalyptus globulus which belongs to Myrtaceae family.
The bark is usually smooth, white to cream-coloured but there are sometimes slabs of persistent, unshed bark at the base. Adult leaves are arranged alternately, the same glossy to dark green on both sides, lance-shaped or curved. The flower buds are arranged singly or in groups of three or seven in leaf axils.The fruit is a woody conical or hemispherical capsule with the valves close to rim level.
Chemical Constituents –
The main ingredient responsible for its properties is eucalyptol, also known as cineole, which is a compound found in eucalyptus oil.

• Whole leaves. Hang the leaves in your shower or add them to your bath for a relaxing spa-like experience.
• Bug repellent. Purchase or make a bug repellent with lemon eucalyptus essential oil.
• Topical. Add a few drops of eucalyptus oil into a carrier oil, such as fractionated coconut oil, and apply it to your chest to ease congestion.
Many over-the-counter products also contain eucalyptus, such as mouthwash, vapor rub, and chewing gum.
