Talishadi Churna is a classical ayurvedic medication that has been used since the ancient times by several sages and ayurvedic physicians to treat different types of respiratory and digestive conditions. 

Ingredients –

•  Talispatra or Indian Silver Fir – Abies webbiana         
•  Sonth or Adrak – Zingiber officinale      
•  Pippali (Long Pepper) – Piper longum
•  Black Pepper – Piper nigrum             
•  Vanshlochan (Tabashir) – Bamboo manna      
•  Dalchini (cinnamon) – Cinnamomum verum 
•  Green Cardamom (Elaichi) – Elettaria cardamomum           
•  Misri or rock candy (crystallized sugar lumps)

•  Anti-inflammatory
•  Antibiotic
•  Expectorant  
•  Analgesic
•  Antipyretic
•  Digestive
• Appetizer

Dosage –
The effectual therapeutic dosage of Talisadi Churna usually varies from person to person depending upon the age, body strength, effects on appetite, severity, and condition of the patient. 
Adults : 2-3 gm, along with honey or clarified butter or ghee twice a day after meals or as suggested by the ayurvedic doctor.
Children : 500mg – 1gm
Infants : 50mg per kg body weight

It also reduces chest and nasal congestion, gets rid of excess catarrh particles and stops nasal discharge. It is also highly effective in treating asthma, bronchitis, sinusitis and other respiratory illnesses.
•  Remedy for fever
This incredible Kapha pacifying formulation is used effectively in treating different types of fever. It not only reduces the body temperature and treat intermittent and high fever but also effective against fever due to common cold, flu or influenza.
•  Promotes digestion
Talishadi Churna promotes the secretion of the digestive juices and thereby increase the absorption of essential nutrients through the intestines. It helps to eliminate abdominal gas and in turn reduces abdominal distension, constipation, bloating and gaseous cramps. 
• Treats inflammatory bowel syndrome (IBS)
IBS can cause both diarrhoea and constipation.

The use of trikatu (i.e. pippali, maricha and shunthi)  and other powerful herbs in talisadi churna make it an effective choice for treating this painful disease.
•  Enhances appetite
Talisadi Churna holds high significance for patients suffering from a loss of appetite and eating disorders like anorexia nervosa, bulimia, pre-existing chronic debilitating disorders, and during convalescence from an acute or chronic infective disorder.

Side Effects –
 If it is consumed in excess or without prior consultation with a doctor, it can lead to side effects and allergic reactions including gastritis and burning sensation. Since it already contains mishri, hence people suffering from diabetes should not consume it without doctor’s recommendation.
