Khadirarishta

Khadirarishta is a polyherbal ayurvedic formulation. Khadirarishta is a rich source of powerful anti-oxidant that destroys free radicals and flushes out toxin waste from the body. Khadirarishta also helps treat some allergic reactions of the skin caused due to exposure to dust and similar allergens. According to Ayurveda, it also has Krimighna (anti-worm) property which works to destroy the ideal condition for the growth of worms.
This ayurvedic liquid has 5-10% of alcohol formed due to fermentation during the process of making this herbal liquid. Khadirarishta liquid is dark brown in colour and clears with no frothing. It tastes like an astringent.

• Khadira – Acacia catechu – heart wood – 2.4 kg
• Devadaru – Cedrus deodara – heart wood – 2.4 kg
• Bakuchi – Psoralea corylifolia – Seed – 576 grams
• Darvi – Berberis aristata – stem – 960 g
• Haritaki – Terminalia chebula – 960 g
• Vibhitaki – Terminalia bellirica – 960 g
• Amalaki – Amla – Emblica officinalis – 960 g
Coarse powder of above is taken, added with water – 98.304 liters.
Boiled and reduced to 12.288 liter, Filtered.
This is added with
• Makshika – honey – 9.6 kg
• Sharkara – Sugar candy – 4.8 kg
Fine powder of
• Dhataki – Woodfordia fruticosa – Flower – 960 g
• Kankola – Piper cubeba – Fruit – 48 grams
• Nagakeshara – Mesua ferrea – Stamen – 48 g
• Jatiphala – Myristica fragrans – Seed – 48 g
• Lavanga – clove – Flower bud – 48 g
• Ela – cardamom – Seed – 48 g
• Twak – Cinnamon – Stem bark – 48 g
• Patra – Cinnamomum tamala – Leaves – 48 g
• Krishna – Pippali – Long pepper fruit – 192 g
Dosage –
Khadirarishta can be taken by mixing the recommended dosage in warm water immediately after a meal.
• Children5-10 ml (1-2 tsp)
• Adults10-20 ml (2-4 tsp)
• Old Age10-20 ml (2-4 tsp)
The maximum possible dosage of Khadirarishta per day should not exceed 60 ml (measured in divided dosage).

• Acne or pimples
Khadirarishta is one of the most effective Ayurvedic preparations which help to manage acne or pimples due to its Pitta and Kapha balancing, and Shothahara (anti-inflammatory) properties. It also helps in blood purification by removing toxins due to its Shodhan (detoxification) property.

Side effects –
A very high dosage than the prescribed may cause burning sensation in stomach.
During pregnancy, it is best to avoid this / take this only under medical supervision. During lactation period, it can be taken in lower doses, based on doctor’s advice.
